Knowing Your Next Move

I’m sitting on the brink of some major changes in my life.  Changes in family, career, and even the places that I used to fit in.  As God shapes you on a daily basis, you may find yourself not fitting in where you currently are.  One thing you should know…this is normal!  Better yet, this shows God has been at work in you, so that He can do a work THROUGH you.

But all of this still doesn’t make you feel less confused when it comes to knowing which decision to make.  We all know that the decisions we make today can majorly impact our tomorrow.  So, as a fellow struggler with this, let me give you some stuff God has been showing me about knowing what my next move should be.  It’s pretty simple in principle, but takes some discipline if you plan to actually implement it in your life.

John 13:7–“Jesus answered and said unto him, ‘What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter.'”

  1. Surrender the Situation  I had to realize that if I couldn’t trust Christ with this part of my life, I couldn’t trust Him with any other parts as well.  John 13:8 bears this point out.  Being a Christian is all about walking in faith…believing God when you can’t see or understand what He’s doing behind the scenes.
  2. Sit Back and Let Christ Serve  When Christ began washing the feet of the disciples, he would not let them participate.  They just had to sit there and watch their Lord serve.  Many ministers make the mistake of trying to run off and start something that was not authored by God’s Spirit.  We cannot minister in a place unless the Spirit of God precedes us.  Forcing a door open can only result in mediocre ministry at best.
  3. Serve Where Christ Shows You  After Christ washed the disciples’ feet, He said in verse 15 that He served to shows us an example.  He serves not for my sake alone, but also for those He is sending me to.  When I see His Spirit working in a particular location, group, or church, He was showing me by example where my next move is.  God will reveal what His will is when you watch to see where and how He’s serving.

I was ignoring what God was calling me to do for months, because I was scared what If I was wrong and it was not God but me… I keep taking my concerns to him in prayer and he kept leading down the path, to where he wanted me to be. Giving me confirmation along the way.

Once I realized it was of him and not me… I started to take little steps and he said NO you are going to jump in NOW! Which I did and can not even put into words how blessed I have been since.
