Blessed In The Right Way July 10, 2009

I am so very thankful for every good thing in my life. I’m surrounded by family and friends that love me, I’ve got a great job, beautiful house, my bills are paid, etc. But I’m feeling blessed in the right way this morning and its for a reason other than all of these things…
“Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.” Psalm 89:15-16
This scripture tells us that blessing doesn’t begin with things and people. It’s not what God can do for us that makes us blessed. It’s when we hear that “joyful sound” of his voice…It’s when we’re able to look on the “light of His countenance”, or to put it another way, to see Him for who He really is…It’s then that I feel truly blessed. Everything else in life is just icing on the cake. But to know Jesus, to feel the Holy Spirit living on the inside of me, that is truly when I feel blessed in the right way.

As children of God we are blessed period. The Lord gives and takes a way but he is still God.
Thanks for your thoughts, Anonymous. You echoed what I was saying. Its who God is to us that makes us so blessed, not just the things he does for us. Your last sentence leads me to believe that you had some prophet Job experiences. I’ve come to be familiar with them myself, but as you said, He is still God!
