3) They allow you to be blessed.
Think about those that have authority over you. What is it that they are allowing you to receive because of their authority? It could be compensation, protection, freedom, etc. Romans 13:4 tells us that the authority figure in your life is “the minister of God to you for good.” If you choose not to submit to their authority, this same verse then says, “But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, an avenger to execute wrath upon him that does evil.” If you enjoy your salary, then honor your boss. If you enjoy your protection, then honor your spouse or parents. If you enjoy your freedom in the spirit, then honor your pastor.
4. It is what you would want if you were in their position.
Romans 13:9 says, “If there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “THOU SHALT LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.” If you consider yourself a Christian, then your life is not your own any longer. You don’t act out of vengence. (“Vengence is mine saith the Lord”). You no longer seek to gain everything you can out of life, but you chose a life a service. Those of you who are tearing down those in authority over you, are only bringing judgment upon yourself! “Do unto others as you would have others to do unto you.”…Just in case you forgot, THAT IS IN THE BIBLE!
So thank God for using them to bless you. Have confidence that when you treat your authority figures with love and respect, that is what you’ll get in return when God promotes you!
